Project 5
Project Description: Master Service Agreement - Wells Decommissioning
Scope of Work: XWells has been retained since 2022 by a North Sea Operator to plan and execute the decommissioning of subsea wells and manifolds. XWells has now completed two projects under the Master Service Agreement.
In both projects, XWells served as the owner’s engineering team: The scope of work entailed XWells undertaking the associated engineering work and management of offshore execution (including the provision of offshore client representation, both engineers and subsea supervisors, to manage contractors).
Project Outcomes:
Project 1:
XWells managed a team with no previous subsea experience and overcame the challenge associated with using a jack-up rig that had never been used in this application. Additionally, XWells enabled the open water recovery of the Tubing Hanger, which negated the use of a riser and therefore secured significant cost savings for the operator.
Project 2:
In the most recent campaign, XWells proposed a novel solution to use Linear Valve Override Tools (LVOTs) to enable valve control. This approach negated the requirement for the Dive Support Vessel being used at the manifold to control the valves on all three wells and critically reduced vessel time and costs.
